  • Major updates!

I promised my extremely pregnant sister that I would stop beating around the bush and update this thing, FINALLY. I always seem to get on a good streak of updating it, and then I get too busy and it goes by the wayside for a couple of months. Ah, well … here’s what has been happening with me recently …

The past couple of weeks have been absolute insanity as I have been interviewing for my internship that will start in January. I went to two middle schools (Tamarac and Cohoes) and one high school (Bethlehem). I really liked all three of them, as they each had something totally different to offer, and I had heard all good things about each of them.

However, one of them really felt like the best fit for me, and luckily they offered me the position this morning! So, starting in January I’ll be interning at …

    Woo-hoo!

BC really seems like a great place, and I immediately felt drawn to it moreso than the other schools I had visited. I think I am going to get A LOT out of my experience there, and I can’t wait to start!

What else has been going on?

I went to NYC this past weekend to see Britt, and even though it was a short trip, it was definitely worth it to have some girl time with my BFF. Greg was in Myrtle Beach on his guy’s trip (read: getting drunk), so it ended up being the perfect time to go down. It makes me cry – I miss her so much! It’s wonderful to be able to get along with someone so well that you never fall out of that rhythm of friendship with them.

So Halloween is right around the corner too! Greg and I are going on the Captain JP again this year. I’m going to be Hermione from Harry Potter. And if you don’t know what Greg is going to be yet, then I can’t tell you. You’re going to have to wait until I upload the pictures, but I guarantee you, it’s funny. J

Other than that, it’s been business as usual around here: class, work, repeat. You know how it goes. Game 4 of the ALCS tonight – go Yanks!! J

  • September slump.

    frown-front

I was on a kick of writing a lot just for the sake of writing, but now that I’m back in school (blech), I am FORCED to do a lot of writing for class, and now I don’t ever feel like writing in this. *Sigh*

That’s right, kids, it’s back to the grind: working full-time and going to graduate school full-time, while studying for the inevitable Comp exam in a few months. It’s hell on Earth and I'm already counting down the days until Thanksgiving.

In order to make myself feel better, I’ve decided to list out 10 positive things that are happening in the near or immediate future to cheer me up. It’s a therapy technique, okay?

    1. I only have class 2 days a week this semester instead of the 3 or even 4 I’ve had in past semesters.
    2. It is my LAST semester of actual CLASS; after this I’ll be interning, which means I’ll be done at a normal hour and will actually have nights free
    3. SYTYCD (dance, dance, dance) and Glee (!) are back on tonight. Thank goodness.
    4. By the end of this month, Greg will have completely wiped out $12,000 worth of debt in the span of a little over a year. A truly amazing feat.
    5. At some point in the next month or so, I’m getting an iPhone, and since I have a “techie” as a boyfriend, he’ll teach me how to use it to its full potential.
    6. Football starts this week. Go Giants! J Plus, the Yankees are kicking some serious butt coming down the stretch in baseball season.
    7. I’m going down to NYC this month to finally have some much needed BFF time with Britt.
    8. Getting soooooooo close to the birth of my very first niece, Ari!
    9. I get paid on Friday, and plan on rewarding myself handsomely with some new jeans for fall.
    10. Oh yeah … did I mention that I actually have a job? And I’m healthy (for the most part)? And I have the most amazing, wonderful, thoughtful boyfriend, friends, family, and home?

    Okay, I’ll stop whining now.

  • Countdown to mini-vacation!

Greg and I are out of here on Friday morning ... can't tell you where just yet, since he might read this, and it's a surprise! It's going to be SO much fun though - can't wait!

Started fall classes yesterday ... it was actually really interesting and fun. I like going to school, even though I complain about it a lot. Abnormal Psychology is something I'll end up using a lot in my field, so I'm very interested in this class.

The weather is beautiful, and life is good. <3

  • Well?

    What do you think?

    New Image

    So far I’ve gotten:

Jordana Brewster from Fast & The Furious

Anne Hathaway from The Devil Wears Prada (after she goes all glam, of course!!)

To have bangs, or not to have bangs? That is the question. J

  • A Day of Rebellion

Yesterday morning around 7:30 am, I got up and jumped into the shower, preparing for yet another day of work. It wasn’t until about 10 minutes later, when I returned to my bedroom to find Greg still sleeping, that I realized something was up. I gently rubbed his back.

“Babe – we’ve gotta get going.”

He turned over, looked me square in the face, and said, “Let’s not.”

Thus began the day of rebellion! We decided to take the opportunity to use one of our precious paid days off to enjoy a beautiful summer day, and take care of some chores we’ve been meaning to get done. It was AWESOME. The day went something like this:

    1. Drive to auto shop to see if we can drop off my car to get fixed. (Back story here is that my dashboard lights only come on when I press the brake pedal … probably not a good thing.) They don’t have time to do it, so we have to bring it back there tomorrow morning.
    2. Go to Panera and meet Greg’s parents for breakfast. Yum.
    3. Go to Greg’s parents’ house to borrow their Jeep.
    4. Drive said-Jeep to Lowe’s in Latham to buy a new lawnmower. (Back story here is that our lawnmower went kaput in the middle of Greg mowing the backyard lawn, and has thus gone uncut for about 2 weeks. Additionally, we rolled up all the change that Greg dumps into this huge jar and came up with $150 to put toward said-lawnmower. Score!)
    5. Drive home and “assemble” lawnmower. (I put assemble in quotes because it was really all TOGETHER, we just had to do a few minor things like put in oil and gas – which we initially put into the wrong respective holes … don’t get me started on that.)
    6. Mow front & back lawn (Greg) / plant lilies & pull weeds (Lauren)
    7. Shower, as I literally sweat something awful while doing all of this
    8. Return the Jeep
    9. Drive to TWO Old Brick furniture stores looking for the PERFECT matching bedside tables.
    10. Find said-tables – cherry wood, two small drawers, GORGEOUS – only to discover that they cost $198 each, which we really can’t afford. SWEET.
    11. Argue over whether or not these things

     New Image

    are ugly.

    They are (according to me).

    1. Head to Olive Garden, and drown worries in zuppa Toscana. Yum again.

And thus, the Day of Rebellion comes to a close.

:::Sigh::: We should really do this more often.
